The 70th Season of the IWVCA will present exciting and entertaining programs
that we hope you will want to see.

The IWVCA offers Student Education Programs that are presented free of charge to the attending students.

The Student Education Outreach Programs are in addition to the evening performances. There will be 6 Student Programs in the 2016-17 season -- presented by the following groups:   Night Blooming Jazz Men, The Folk Collection, Liana Forest, Americus Brass Band, Golden Bough, Acoustic Eidolon. The Concert Association policy is that senior citizens and the general public are always welcome to attend these Student Education Programs, free of charge -- if seating is available.

These concerts will be funded in part by a grant from Southern California Edison.

Night Blooming Jazzmen
The Night Blooming Jazzmen is one of the busiest bands in the nation. They have a lot of fun with their audiences and each other and, despite this, their music is top-quality. They play well and put on a great show.

The Folk Collection
Tony Unger, Ed Labowitz and Mike Sirota grew up in the 1960's, when they fell in love with the story songs and 3-part harmonies of that acoustic era. Their show is centered around folk music and good clean jokes.

Liana Forest
Russian-born Liana Forest has performed throughout the world receiving acclaim for her brilliant technique and warm stage presence. Liana offers fresh and original interpretations by blending brilliant styles of jazz, popular music and humor with everybody's favorite classics. From the haunting melodies of Rachmaninoff and Chopin to modern renditions of Bach and Beethoven, from brilliant exuberance of Rhapsody in Blue to the tuneful gusto of West Side Story, Liana brings timeless musical gems closer to today’s listener as she dazzles and entertains.

Americus Brass Band performs TOP BRASS

In brand new show, TOP BRASS, the 17-piece Americus Brass Band returns with a Salute to the Services, performing music and song from a century of the American military bands. From the fields to the canteen, from Civil War quicksteps and Sousa marches to WWI Ragtime and Glenn Miller’s WWII Swing, experience the music that inspired the troops and the public. In TOP BRASS, the Band performs on the authentic instruments of the times, starting with 1860's brass, then adding more modern brass and woodwinds for 20th century syncopation and the Big Band sound. A special thanks to IWVCA - Your wonderful comments from the Americus Brass Band's last concert inspired the theme of this new TOP BRASS show!

Golden Bough performs Celtic Classics

Are you a bit Irish or Scottish? Or do you simply love the lilting Celtic folk music? Then this concert is for you. Returning to IWVCA, the Golden Bough trio treats you to a new show of Celtic Classics: well-loved Irish and Scottish melodies, handed-down from generation to generation.
Since 1980, Golden Bough has toured internationally, singing with pristine, three-part harmony, and performing on an array of instruments from the Celtic harp, fiddle, guitar, and accordion to the penny-whistle, bodhran, and others. Celtic Classics features the Celtic songs you know - and others sure to become new favorites. Expect to tap your toes and leave the concert humming!

Acoustic Eidolon
Acoustic Eidolon, featuring Joe Scott on double neck “guitjo” and Hannah Alkire on cello, has graced stages throughout the US, Europe, Australia and Canada.  The double-neck guitjo has 14 strings and Joe has developed his own style and technique -- playing both necks simultaneously.  These masterful artists continue to captivate audiences throughout the world with their signature “new acoustic” sound and boundless possibilities in blending Celtic, Folk, World & Latin music influences.

Don't Delay - Join the IWVCA for the 2016-17 Season!

The 70th Season of the IWVCA will run from October 2016 through April 2017. All Concerts are scheduled to start at 7:30 PM. in the Burroughs Parker Performing Arts Center Auditorium at Burroughs High School, 500 French Street here in Ridgecrest. Doors open at 7:00 PM. Please leave home early enough to park and still get into the theater well before 7:30 PM. To accommodate patrons who still need to purchase Single-Event Concert tickets or have other questions or problems, the Box Office will open at 6:30 PM.

Concerts are subject to change of location, date, or artist if circumstances should dictate. As always, should any changes happen to programs scheduled in any given season, that schedule will be amended with the correct data as soon as the change is known. In such case, subscribers will be notified by e-mail, notice on the Concert Line (760-375-5600), mailed notice (if there is sufficient time), notices posted on this web site, and/or notices in the media. If you have an e-mail address, please assure that it is made available to the IWVCA so that you can receive notices and updates of importance or interest to the membership.
